Finding Bridesmaid Dresses that Steal the Show

The big day is all about the bride. That hasn’t changed in decades. What has changed, however, is how a lot of brides treat the selection of bridesmaid dresses. In the past, it was often common for the bride-to-be to choose dresses for her bridesmaids that were less than flattering and often times even gaudy or embarrassing. The theme of bridesmaids hating their dresses is all too common in sitcoms and movies, especially those made in the 1980′s. It was said that the bride didn’t want to be out-shined by her friends. Putting her friends in silly dresses made the bride shine even brighter at the front of the ceremony. Lucky for all of the bridesmaids-to-be out there, this trend is no longer the law when it comes to standing up with the bride on her big day.

These days, brides are looking at the bridesmaid dresses in a different light. The wedding ceremony and reception is planned down to the final dazzling detail and the ladies surrounding the bride are no different. Their dresses are now meant to not only honor the special ladies in the bride’s life but to bring the ceremony’s look together, almost as accessories. There are several ways to find the right look for bridesmaid dresses that steal the show.

The first thing most brides choose is the color scheme, which includes the bridesmaid dresses. Some brides like to use fun, bright colors that grab attention while others like more understated, classic tones that match their scheme. Whatever colors the bride chooses for the bridesmaid dresses can be beautiful, but it’s important to remember that there are no rules. Dresses do not have to all match. A line of bridesmaids in different tones can make a beautiful monochromatic scene. Giving the Maid of Honor a dress in a different shade or color will make her stand out as someone extra special to the bride.

Another look that doesn’t have to be an exact match is the actual cut of the dress. Chances are, the bridesmaids are not all identical twins and therefore look better in different styles. Choosing a few different cuts, lengths, fits, etc and letting the girls choose which dress fits them best, will not only make each bridesmaid feel comfortable and special, but will ensure they look their best.

Lastly, and possibly most important to the overall look of the ceremony and bridal procession is the style of the dress. The style can be formal and floor-length, short, flirty and tight, simple and casual or somewhere in between. The important thing is to keep the style of the bridesmaid dress in keeping with the overall look of the wedding. If the bride is wearing a long, classy, very formal dress, the bridesmaid dresses should keep the same tone.

With a little research and consideration, finding the perfect, show-stopping bridesmaid dresses can be easy and fun.

Teaching Your Daughters How to Use Makeup

Those who have daughters that are itching to use makeup want to make sure that they do it right. Teaching a daughter how to do their makeup isn’t something that everybody knows how to do, but having a daughter that isn’t caking on her make up is important. There are a few simple things that people can teach their daughters to do in order to get them wearing classy and subtle make up.

The Eyes Are Important:

First, teach them that their eyes are the most important part of their face to focus on. Show them that with some simple eyeliner their eyes will pop. Also, show them that they don’t have to use crazy colors to bring out their eyes. Using browns and sand color is something that is great for bringing out the natural beauty of the eyes. Also, demonstrating how to put on a modest amount of mascara and make their eyes really stand out.

Don’t Cake On Foundation:

Show them how unflattering wearing too much foundation can be by putting on too much to start with. Let the daughters see what it looks like to have a face with caked on makeup, and how much better it looks to use it sparingly. Show them how they shouldn’t use the wrong shade, how it can just make them look they have turned orange. Also, teach them that they can just use a little bit of bronzer to give them a glow.

Don’t Let Them Look Like a Doll:

Show the daughters how they don’t need to cover their cheeks with a ton of blush. Let them see how it makes them look ridiculous, and then show them how they can use just a little and keep it classy. Also, they can learn how to use light colors in order to make it look like they are not using the wrong color for their face. Also, show them how great sheer lipgloss looks and make sure they know they don’t need to wear heavy lipstick.

It is easy to demonstrate to daughters how they can mess up their makeup and look like they are wearing way too much. Teaching them to wear just the right amount is the best way to ensure that they are looking great and classy.

Connect with other Mommy Bloggers

Blogging has become a form of writing that anyone can do. It doesn’t matter if you have any writing skills or could write a bestselling novel. Blogging allows you the avenue to speak about what you want and how you want to speak about it. Often blogs are formed with multiple people with the same interests or opinions. This is no different when looking at blogging mothers. It gives them one central location that they can meet up, discuss different topics with one another and write them with people with the same situations. In order to do so though, there are certain tips mothers can use to be successful at blogging with other mothers.

Be sure that you are a people person. Blogs are only as interesting as the person that is writing them. Make sure to discuss the topic you are discussing with some personality. You don’t necessarily have to be funny or comical but being knowledgeable will keep people coming back to your blog and will keep people wanting more. Get a group of you together to form one common blog. Maybe have a group of seven women who will post one a day. This will give your busy life a break and allow there to be more exposure for everyone. Have fun blogging and don’t be afraid to fail. You cannot fail if you do not try.

Make sure to be supportive to other bloggers. Even if you both are not on the same site or within the same group, you will want to support them as much as you would want to be supported. Success can be difficult but sometimes people aren’t looking for just success but instead friendship and respect. Think about if you were to write something that meant a lot to you and someone gave you negative feedback on it. How would you feel about this? Would this bother you? Wouldn’t you feel as though you have failed thus ruining what you thought was special? Consider this about other people and go out of your way to compliment others for the job they do and for the work they put into it.

Blogging is a type of art that many people enjoy. There is no doubt it allows different type of people to come together with one common bond no matter what the subject is. Make sure when blogging you are having fun. Make sure to enjoy the moments you have with the people you share them with and just remember that others are going through the same. Be truthful and from the heart and people will truly enjoy reading your blogs.

Benefits of Getting Tutoring For Your Children

Many children have trouble learning certain concepts in school. The difficult nature of subject matter or the way material is taught may cause these learning problems. When this happens, different approaches need to be taken to help kids learn. Usually, tutors are hired to provide this approach.

There are many benefits of getting tutoring for your children. One on one tutoring sessions keep kids focused and determined to learn material. Focus can be kept throughout tutoring sessions because the distractions of the classroom are eliminated. There are no students to take attention away from studies and tutors will not let kids zone out during private tutoring sessions. If you want to find tutoring look for sites like tutorspree.

Tutors also are able to customize lessons to provide the best type of learning for kids. Every child learns differently and this can be figured out quite quickly by tutors. These individuals will try different approaches and they will decide what works the best for each child. Some kids are more visual and they must see examples of problems worked out. Some children learn best by reading notes and these notes can be written with tutors for better understanding.

Tutors are very beneficial when student’s grades seem to drop. When this happens, kids are obviously not understanding material in school and tutors can help to bring grades up. Homework assignment help is generally the first type of assistance that is provided by tutors. It is best for students to work with tutors at least three days a week to begin with so that homework can be accomplished and turned in by students. Sometimes assignments will take a great deal of time and tutors are willing and able to spend an hour or two with students until homework is completed properly.

Tutors help students learn discipline along with important school material. This is because tutors will expect real work and time to be invested during tutoring sessions. Also, tutors will ask students to do specific assignments that must be shown during the next tutoring session. Tutors will look over information carefully and they will know if assignments are rushed. Tutors will not let children off the hook when assignments contain sloppy work, and usually extra assignments will need to be completed. In time, kids will learn that there are consequences for poor work and this will push them to do better in the future.

How to Travel, a Guide For Mothers

  1. Don’t pack juice boxes – You might think that juice boxes would be a good idea so your little one can have a drink on the plane. Due to TSA restrictions, you will be subjected to a body pat down if you want to bring the juice boxes on board since juice boxes cannot be opened and resealed. Pack bottles that can be opened and resealed after TSA testing.
  2. Bring an umbrella stroller – Do you have the newest, trendiest stroller on the market? Great. Does it fold up nice and small in one piece? If not, you may get hit with an additional checked baggage fee. I got hit with one when I brought my Bugaboo stroller that breaks down into two pieces. Take an umbrella stroller that can be folded and checked at the gate.
  3. Ask about that extra seat early – If you are traveling with a child under two, ask about an extra empty seat when you check in. Many times the plane will have extra seats and the attendant at check-in can help move you around. If they can’t help, check with the gate attendant after you go through security. I’ve had this happen to me several times and was accommodated at the gate. Having an extra seat will make your flight much better.
  4. Bring a new toy – When you are on a plane for several hours, you want to keep your kids entertained. When planning for your trip, buy several new toys and keep them in your carryon bag. When your kids start to get antsy, bring out the new toys one at a time to keep them occupied.
  5. Bring your own milk – If you child is still drinking from a bottle, make sure to bring your own milk. Believe it or not I was on a flight where they did not serve milk. They only had powdered coffee creamer. This could be a nightmare if your plan was to get your child to fall asleep with a nice warm bottle of milk.
  6. Don’t pack extra diapers – Aside from a few diapers in your travel bag, don’t pack any diapers. With extra fees for baggage these days, it’s best to pack light. You can find diapers wherever you go. I found Huggies in when I traveled to South America with no problem.

How to Prepare Your Kids For a Wedding as a Mother

When a child’s name appears on a wedding invitation they are allowed to attend the wedding. Many couples are choosing to make their weddings more family friendly. It’s a mother’s responsibility to prepare their children for this event.

Prior to the wedding start talking about this special occasion. Allow kids to ask questions and explain expected behavior. Prepare children by going through the various parts of the ceremony and reception so they know what to expect.

Before the wedding starts, you will want to help your child with their wedding fashion. Young boys tend to be least concerned about their clothing. Thus, you will often want to not only help them into their suit but also emphasize the importance of keeping their tie or bow ties neat and in proper position. On the other hand, girls are often times more concerned about their clothing and will be happily content as long as you are there to help them into their junior bridesmaid dress.

If children are over 10 years old they should be expected to sit still and listen during the ceremony. A small bribe can be offered that they will earn with good behavior. Children under 10 may need entertainment during the ceremony. Put together a “Quiet Bag” that includes books and soft toys that will not make noise if they are dropped on the floor. Make sure prior to the ceremony that they understand they need to sit still. Try and sit on an aisle or towards the back of the ceremony room so if you need to leave you can.

In between the ceremony and reception take this opportunity to take children somewhere they can get energy out, such as a park or even just a walk around the church. If attending the cocktail hour, be sure children know not to run around and seat them at an appropriate place. Children need to know they do not run up to a buffet alone or attack hors d’oeuvre from the servers. Bring snacks; often cocktail hour food may not be kid friendly.

Make sure children are prepared for what happens at a wedding reception. Often it is good to prepare children for how they would behave at a nice restaurant. Quiet table activities, coloring books, a small portable DVD player and all things you may use at a restaurant are appropriate for children to use at a wedding. Take kids for a walk around the reception hall, visit the cake table, show where the gift table is and explain to look but do not touch. Encourage kids to ask questions. Children are typically allowed on the dance floor, but prepare your children not to run around.

A little preparation prior to attending a wedding will go a long way. Children need to know what to expect and that good behavior receives rewards. Embrace the experience and allow for teachable moments.

Making Extra Money as a Stay-at-Home Mom

Few things beat the pleasure of being able to stay home with your children during their early years. Instead of allowing a babysitter or day care center raise your children, you get to spend valuable time with your little ones before they start school, and you will be there to help them with their homework and to supervise them in the afternoons after they start school. However, staying home with your kids can put a damper on your financial situation, making it difficult for you to be a stay-at-home mom and causing you to be stressed and worried instead of enjoying the extra time with your little ones. Luckily, there are a few ways that you can make money from home, allowing you to have the best of both worlds.

Babysitting:
Babysitting is a great way to make a bit of extra cash while staying home with your children. Ask neighbors and friends if they need someone to keep their child while they are at work; if possible, consider finding kids who are close in age to your own children. This will give your little one a playmate or two, and you can make a decent bit of income on the side.

Selling Crafts:
If you love arts and crafts, you should consider making them and selling them online. There is a huge market out there for homemade items, whether you like to make t-shirts, housewares, jewelry, candles or nearly anything under the sun. You can market them on your own online shop or blog, or you can sell them on auction sites or online craft marketplace.

Become a Sales Representative:
There are plenty of business opportunities out there for women who want a flexible work schedule so that they can spend time with their kids. You can work with a company that allows you to sell their products to others in exchange for commission. Many women make a great living selling makeup and beauty products, cookware and other products; you can sell these items online or to your friends, family and neighbors. You will also get a hefty discount on products that you love.

Look for Freelance Opportunities Online:
Are you a good writer? Do you know a bit about web or graphic design? Are you a quick and accurate typist? If so, you can often find freelance work that allows you to plan your own schedule and work from home. There are tons of opportunities out there, and you might be surprised to find just how much you can get paid for doing the things that you are good at.

Although making money from home as a stay-at-home mom isn’t always easy, it is a highly rewarding experience. Assess your skill set and search for opportunities; you might be able to make a wonderful income while still spending valuable time with your kids.

How to Make Great Tasting Food as a Mom

If you’re a mom, you already know that little ones can often be picky eaters and that it can be discouraging to prepare meals for those who constantly turn up their noses at your offerings. You may feel as if it would be easier simply to feed your family with taste-bud satisfying items such as processed chicken nuggets on a regular basis, but you know that doing so will most likely compromise the health of your children. Ways exist, however, to prepare tasty and healthy dishes that the entire family will enjoy.

First of all, don’t let your children get too used to fast-food and overly-processed grocery store items. Starting them out with healthy meals and snacks from the time they are eating solids will ensure that they don’t develop a preference for sugary and fatty foods. Instead of sweet soda drinks, give them fruit juice to drink and offer fresh fruit as an alternative to commercially made candy items.

One way to tempt children to eat vegetables is to provide a small bowl of flavorful dressing for dipping raw carrot and celery sticks into. Most children love ranch and honey-mustard dressing, for instance, and will happily consume their daily requirement of vegetables if tasty dipping sauce is part of the menu. Children are hard-wired to prefer the taste of high-calorie sweets and fat, so make sure that the sweets and fat in their daily diets are of the healthy varieties. Using olive oil to cook fish and chicken in is advised to those who want to lessen the amount of trans-fats consumed by their families.

Most children love chocolate, so offer small squares of dark chocolate as treats rather than large-sized grocery store candy bars. Dark chocolate is more satisfying than mass produced candy and also contains important health benefits.

Cooking for a family can be frustrating when there are several different palate types to please. The taste buds of children are often stronger than those of adults, which accounts for some of them being picky eaters. Preparing great tasting meals can be a challenge for any parent and experimentation is recommended as a way to discover what works best for your particular family. Many moms find that allowing the children to assist with meal preparation increases the chances of them actually enjoying the meal.
